Been absent too long

Well, just when you think you’re rid of me….I’m still here.  See it’s like this.  I’ve been chronically ill all of my life, at least all I remember.  Sometimes mildly asthmatic, but needing daily medication, sometimes severely asthmatic despite multiple medications and oxygen as one example.  There are others.  The last few years have been rough on me and now I’m up to being able to be on my feet for about 30 minutes as long as it’s a combination of walking and standing with a walker; much less if I just have to stand.  This is great freedom for me; last year it was 5-10 minutes.  But sometimes I enjoy so much coming back toward a normal state for someone my age, I overdo and suffer the consequences.  That would be the last week to 2 weeks.

We’re all allergic to dust and a lot of dust accumulates with forced air heat, even with a high-grade furnace filter.  For some reason I’m the only one who can figure out how to remedy this, unless hubs uses the vacuum.  So I did quite a bit that got dust in my face (you can’t move things to reorganize, wash fabrics, etc. without getting a face-ful).  And I forgot that if I did that one day, went to the store the next day, or something like that, I should take a day to rest.  But I don’t want to and I don’t.  And I pay.  For days I’m too worn out to do much of anything.  On a good day I go through “Fix It and Forget It” cookbooks among others, and plan some meals.  Then I’m too weak to cook for days.  Someday I’ll get it together.

My craft room to be no longer looks like this.  A lot of progress has been made, but I don’t want to put up another picture until it’s done.  There is now actual desk surface available to use on the left of the picture and if you squint, you’ll see a red leg with a pile of stuff on it more to the right.  It’s actually a table/desk and now has my sewing machine, a light and some craft storage system pieces I bought from Michaels on it.  Soon, if I remember my rules, it’ll be done.

Also worked on  getting all my fabric together, not done on that either.  I’ve gotten some cheap fabric from ebay when I couldn’t go out at all during our horrible winter last year.  Some is what I expected, YAY!!  But some is definitely not.  Can’t tell me the camera doesn’t lie.  So I don’t even have plans for all of it.  And when my daughter still lived here we had plans to make jewelry and other things together and none of that ever happened.  So that has to be stored neatly until  I get really ambitious, oh, I forgot, (mental block) I can’t sit more than 30-45 min. at a desk either without pain in my back that keeps me awake at night.  So, you see, this operation will take some time.

One of the things I did last week was to go thrifting!!  I can just get through the store with the walker, never could with the wheelchair.  And they’d recently stocked.  So now, I have to get myself to where I can take pictures of my finds, get them into the computer and I’ll write again.  I know all of this sound like nothing to do and I once felt that way, too.  But that is not now my reality.  This year is better than last so hopefully I’m on a long upswing!  Thanks for hanging in with me, you are the best!!!

Janet

I thank God for all the wondrous gifts he's given me daily. Reading many of your blogs has inspired me to get busy and stay busy doing things I used to enjoy and just fell away from. And you've given me courage to try new things I've never done before, things I'd have been afraid to try a few months ago. Thank you for your unknown contributions to this woman's life.

Janet, congrats on being able to be active for longer periods of time. I can tell this medical condtion is rough on you. I’m glad you have some projects to work on and look forward to. I re-did my craft room last fall; painted, and changed a few things around. Right now I’m working on a raggedy quilt/throw. For now, I’m doing smaller-sized throws as they take long enough as it is, and no point in becoming discouraged by a huge project!
