Well, it’s December 24. (It was before we made a family visit and I played in Pintest)  Sure did sneak up on us, huh?  I don’t know about where you live, but we have 0 snow.  Until recently, we’ve had warmer than average (whatever that is) temperatures.

Did you get all your baking, buying and wrapping gifts done?  Are you hosting or travelling or both?  Are you going to Christmas Eve Service?  Because that IS what this holiday is all about.  Somehow over a lot of time, it’s become more about the bustle and how retail will do and who will win the house decoration contest with Snoopy and the Red Baron and this year’s addition, pink pigs with wings.  WHAT?  I’ve tried to find a store that sells Jesus, Joseph and Mary for outdoors.  Haven’t seen one anywhere.  Not that I’m surprised.  Saddened but not surprised.  Do you hear store (or any) employees wish you Merry Christmas?  I haven’t.  Though that’s that I answer then sometimes they repeat it.  If that’s including New Year’s I guess that’s fine.  But I don’t think so.  This year stores aren’t as festive as they used to be, at least here.  Ruby Tuesday had some decal snowflakes on the door and that was it.  Yes, we know it’s winter.

So for those who have forgotten or maybe never knew, I’ve printed out the real reason for the season below.  For those, like me and my family who know (our first decoration every season is the nativity) you just may enjoy it anyway.

Nativity

The Dune Berry

“So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.” Luke 2:16-20 NIV

Mark 1:8-10 “At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.”(NIV)

Ephesians 6:8, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” (NIV)

Holy Spirit

From Maureen ‘Mo” Sepulveda

The dove is symbolic for the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:26, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” (NIV).

Joy to the World Joy came to the world because God our great Creator loved His creation so much that He sent His Son to reveal His story, and so that over time, His character and ultimate good will toward mankind would be recognized. The impact on earth of Christ’s birth will never diminish. #Jesus

John 3:16 ‘”For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”(NIV)

That pretty much sums it up.

With Love,

Janet

I thank God for all the wondrous gifts he's given me daily. Reading many of your blogs has inspired me to get busy and stay busy doing things I used to enjoy and just fell away from. And you've given me courage to try new things I've never done before, things I'd have been afraid to try a few months ago. Thank you for your unknown contributions to this woman's life.
