Sunday Tribute

I knew a teen when he was in youth group at the church we both attended and where I was a volunteer leader.  A funny guy, a fun guy, a Christian guy who lived as an example of what that means.

This is a ministry camp where he went to work alongside his sister, brother-in-law and family.  He is one of the young people in this photo.

2 Timothy 1:7  For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.       NIV

He loved too joke around with everyone, including our youth pastor, and children everywhere, living out the verse:

Psalm 14:7 They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.        NIV

He loved entertaining and teaching kids at the same time, as shown here as he wears a child’s breast plate, a straw hat for a helmet and a homemade sword.

Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood. but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place and with your feet fitted with readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occassions with all kind of prayers and request.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.     NIV

Jose is missed by all who knew him; probably by all who met him.  Outgoing and friendly, he showed those who thought being a Christian meant giving up having fun and always being serious how wrong they were.  He lived his sermon, lighting up every room he entered.  We in his home town in CT were sad and happy when he left here to live and minister at the camp in WI.  We no longer had him among us (except by phone, facebook, etc.) but knew he was doing what he wanted to do, what he loved, working for Christ.  We all loved Jose and now grieve with his family at the same time celebrating his life and love.  Jose’s life on earth was short, but impacted so very many.  Now he worships Jesus face to face.

Love,

Janet

Romans 8:28  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him who have been caused according to his purpose.

I thank God for all the wondrous gifts he's given me daily. Reading many of your blogs has inspired me to get busy and stay busy doing things I used to enjoy and just fell away from. And you've given me courage to try new things I've never done before, things I'd have been afraid to try a few months ago. Thank you for your unknown contributions to this woman's life.
